Global coronavirus cases have surpassed three million, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Authorities in 211 countries and territories have reported more than 3,050,000 novel coronavirus cases worldwide since China reported its first cases to the World Health Organization (WHO) in December.

Nearly a third of all infections have been recorded in the United States, the university reported.

At least 987,022 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the United States, including 56,144 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University’s tally of cases.

On Monday, Johns Hopkins reported at least 19,658 new cases and 1,071 deaths.

The totals include cases from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and other US territories, as well as repatriated cases.

Spain follows the US as the nation with the second highest count of Covid-19 cases, with a total of 229,422, according to Johns Hopkins.

Italy, with 199,414 coronavirus infections and 26,977 deaths is third on the list, while France with 164,589 cases and 23,293 deaths is in fourth position.

Ekiti State has recorded four more Coronavirus disease, Governor Kayode Fayemi said on Saturday.

ECOWAS leaders have appointed President Muhammadu Buhari Champion of the COVID-19 response.

At Last Hope In Sight_Germany Covid_19 Vaccine Is Set For Testing.

A possible vaccine for Coronavirus, developed by German firm BioNTech and US drug giant Pfizer, has been given the green light for human testing.

The trial will begin with 200 healthy people, aged between 18 and 55, being given the vaccine, according to BBC.

“This is a good sign that the development of a vaccine in Germany is so progressed that we can start with the first studies,” the country’s health minister, Jens Spahn, said Wednesday.

“At the same time the advice remains important that it will take months. This is an injection in the body. Safety first is the guideline for such a vaccine.”

Only a handful of vaccine candidates have been approved for clinical testing on humans globally, and experts caution that it will take at least a year for a viable vaccine to be developed.

Scientists at the UK’s Oxford University are starting human trials of a possible vaccine this week. Other clinical trials are taking place in the US and China.

Tension In Kano: Kano Covid_19 Testing Center Closed For Lack Of Testing Kits.

A looming danger is expected in Kano as the newly established testing centre for COVID-19 has suspended its operation for lack of test kits.

Kano has ramp up 73 Coronavirus infections in just 10 days.

There has been mysterious deaths of over 150 people in the ancient city in the last three days, which many suspected to be coronavirus.

However, the Director of the Centre for Infectious Diseases Research, Amimu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), Isah Abunakar who confirmed this to Channels Television on Wednesday said the centre had run out of test kits.

Abubakar added that the centre would remain closed until new test kits were supplied from Abuja.

Breaking News: Chief Superintendent Of Police (CSP) Died Of Coronavirus In Benin

A 57-year-old police officer has become the latest victim of coronavirus disease in Edo State.

The deceased, who was said to be a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), is the second victim to have died of the virus in the state.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Patrick Okundia, who confirmed the incident to journalists in Benin on Wednesday, said the victim died on Tuesday.

He did not However give further information, if the deceased is among the profile cases in the state and Nigeria center for disease (NCDC) and how he contracted the virus was not brief as well.
